We run two brands, Hickoree's and The Hill-Side, out of our office in Brooklyn.
The two have always cross-pollinated, but several months ago we embarked on a project that would take full advantage of this relationship; something that could only be done by Hickoree's and The Hill-Side working together.
We asked brands that we carry at Hickoree's to make their signature pieces using fabric from The Hill-Side. The result is a collection of 66 products from 23 brands. 62 of the products are made in the USA, 2 in England, and 2 in India.
Thanks to this project, we are able to see our 5 signature chambrays transform from neckties into a Gitman Vintage shirt; our leaf camo print has become a pair of Left Field chinos (and a Parrott Canvas tote bag and Owner Operator anorak); and our indigo floral discharge print is now . . . a Mast Brothers chocolate bar.
In a way, the project is the answer to a question we get all the time: "The Hill-Side uses such awesome fabrics -- when are you going to start making clothes?"
But more than that, it's a celebration of the close relationships we have with the brands we carry in our shop. The companies represented in The Hill-Side & Co. collection are run by some of our favorite people, and we feel truly honored to have them as our collaborators.
